Sharing Stories That Reflect Us
Welcome Home
If you’re here, it’s likely because some part of this resonates with you—the feeling of walking a path that isn’t just yours, but your family’s too. Being first-generation is complicated. It’s messy, rewarding, and often lonely. This space exists to share that experience, to honor our roots, and to make sense of the journey we’re all navigating.
Two Places, One Heart
I was born in Tijuana and grew up in Nashville, caught between two worlds that shaped me in very different ways. Home smelled like my mom’s cooking, sounded like my dad’s voice, and felt like family gathered around a table. It also carried the weight of undocumented status, a constant reminder that the simple things others took for granted came with struggles we couldn’t escape.
Our Shared Struggle
For my parents, being undocumented meant sacrificing dreams for survival. For me and my sister, it meant growing up faster than we should have—translating paperwork, navigating systems that didn’t see us, and figuring out how to belong in spaces that weren’t made for us. Those years were hard. They also taught me resilience, compassion, and the value of perseverance.
Our Stories Matter
Our stories deserve to be told by us. Not reshaped, watered down, or edited to fit someone else’s perspective. Being first-generation means carrying the weight of our family’s sacrifices while figuring out how to honor them in our own way. That’s why I created this platform: to give a voice to the experiences that so often go unheard.
This Is Our Space
This is more than a blog; it’s a shared journal. It’s a place to document the joys, heartbreaks, and the in-between moments that make our journeys real. Together, we can build a community where our voices aren’t just heard—they’re celebrated.
Looking Forward
The road ahead isn’t always clear. That’s part of the beauty. Our stories don’t just reflect the past; they shape the future. By sharing them, we’re carving out spaces for ourselves and those who come after us.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to our stories: raw, real, and unapologetically ours.
